These terms cover the Oye Mila device and service. By buying a device or subscribing, you agree to them. If you don't, don't buy it, and if you already did, email us and we'll refund you.
Mila speaks reminders you schedule, holds everyday conversation in Spanish, and sends a daily summary to the family contact.
Mila is not a medical device. She does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and she will never tell anyone what medication to take or how much.
Mila is not an emergency service. She cannot call 911, summon responders, or detect that a fall happened. She cannot guarantee that an emergency will be recognized. In an emergency, call 911.
Mila is not monitoring. She does not watch for unusual behavior, analyze how someone sounds, or notice that something seems off. She responds to what is said to her and sends alerts only in the five situations listed below.
Mila is not a substitute for care, supervision, or human contact.
The device listens locally for her wake word. Audio is not sent anywhere for processing until a supported wake phrase or the button on the device starts a conversation.
Mila also starts conversations on her own for scheduled reminders, morning greetings, and check-ins. The user does not have to do anything for those.
Mila connects automatically through the cellular network, so there's nothing for you or your family member to set up. If the connection is temporarily lost, scheduled reminders stored on Mila will continue to work. Conversations, family texts, and other connected features will resume once the connection returns.
You give us the reminder schedule during setup. That includes medications, appointments, and anything else you want Mila to say. Mila never chooses a medication, a dose, or a time, and she never changes the schedule herself.
Mila can ask whether a reminder was completed and record the answer. That answer is what the user told her. Mila cannot verify that medication was actually taken. When the summary says "said yes," it means the user said yes.
If the user says they haven't done it yet, Mila can repeat the reminder later according to the schedule you set.
Mila sends an immediate text in these five situations:
Nothing else triggers an immediate alert.
If the user says something that matches recognized emergency language, Mila tells them to call 911 and sends an immediate text to the family contact. For other health concerns, Mila encourages them to contact their doctor and sends an immediate text to the family contact.
Mila does not diagnose anything and does not decide whether a situation is actually an emergency. She responds to the words she recognizes.
Mila does not analyze anyone's voice, speech pattern, tone, or vocal characteristics to draw conclusions about their health.
If money, requests for personal information, or similar topics come up during a conversation, Mila may warn the user not to share anything and send an immediate text to the family contact.
Mila does not listen to phone calls. She cannot block callers, stop a transaction, check whether a caller is real, or guarantee that fraud will be caught or prevented.
Once a day the family contact receives a summary of the day: which reminders were answered and how, roughly how the conversations went, and anything the service is designed to report. Medication entries reflect what the user told Mila.
On a day when one of the five alert conditions happens, the family contact will get that alert too, in addition to the summary.
Enrolling a family member is not the same as that person agreeing. Buying Mila for someone does not count as their consent.
When the device is first plugged in, Mila introduces herself. She explains who set her up, what she does, that she remembers things across days, and that a summary goes to a family contact each night. Then she asks the user directly whether they'd like her company. We ask that a family member be present for this.
If the user says no, tell us and we'll deactivate the device the same day and refund the $199. No explanation needed.
The user is told that conversations may be summarized for the family contact, and Mila will explain this plainly any time they ask her.
Either of you can ask us to stop at any time and we'll deactivate the device the same day.
Program name: Oye Mila.
What we send: a daily summary about the user, plus alerts in the five situations listed above.

Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages. Reply HELP for help, or email hola@oyemila.com.
We do not share your mobile number with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
The device has no camera. There is no camera hardware in it.
So that conversations don't start over every morning, Mila may remember ordinary details across days: names and relationships, pets, favorite foods and shows, interests, preferences, and things talked about before.
Mila is not designed to retain passwords, PINs, Social Security numbers, banking or card information, account numbers, security codes, or government and insurance identification numbers as conversational memory.
Health statements may appear in alerts, summaries, transcripts, and service records because the alert feature requires it. They are not kept as ordinary conversational memory for Mila to bring up casually later.
To run the reminders, hold conversation, remember details across days, send the daily summary, and send the five alerts described above.
We use it to improve the service. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.
Summaries and alerts go to the one designated family contact. Nobody else receives them.
We use outside providers to run the service: speech recognition, language models, voice synthesis, text messaging, and hosting. They process data on our behalf under their own terms.
We'll disclose information if the law requires it, or if we believe someone is in immediate danger.
Email us to request deletion sooner and we'll do it, except where the law requires us to keep something.
California residents can ask what personal information we hold, ask us to delete it, and ask us to correct it. We don't sell personal information, so there's nothing to opt out of. Email hola@oyemila.com and we'll respond within 45 days.
Mila depends on power, on a working connection, and on outside services we don't control. Reminders can be missed. The device can go offline. Speech recognition makes mistakes. Reminders stored on the device keep running without a connection, but conversation and alerts do not.
Do not rely on Mila as the only safeguard for anything that matters medically. She is one layer of support, not a safety net. Keep the human arrangements you already have.
The service is provided as is, without warranties. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the previous twelve months.
Don't resell the device, take it apart, or use it to record someone who hasn't agreed to it. We can suspend service for misuse, and we'll tell you why.
Email or call us. We'll cancel immediately, charge nothing further, and refund the $199. Send Mila back whenever you're ready. There's no deadline and we'll send a prepaid label.
Oye Mila is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
If we change these terms materially, we'll email you at least 30 days beforehand. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the change.
California law governs these terms, and disputes are handled in California courts.
